From Paris to Brewster: Individual & Community Energy-Climate Responses from Town of Brewster, MA on Vimeo.
Brewster Community Network (BCN) presents this free public forum to promote both community-wide and individual responses to the climate challenge. It will run from 6:30 – 8 pm on October 12, 2016 at Brewster Ladies Library. Attendees are encouraged to bring their electric bills and their energy questions.
Energy consultant Chris Powicki will review energy-climate connections and highlight local vulnerabilities to sea level rise and other threats based on recent findings developed through the Brewster Coastal Advisory Group.
Pat Hughes, director of marine policy from the Center for Coastal Studies, will provide an update on the recently formed Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative (CCCCC). She will address the possibility of Brewster and other communities taking a CCCCC pledge to reduce emissions in line with regional, state, national, and global targets.
Austin Brandt, power supply planner for the Cape Light Compact (CLC) municipal aggregation, will introduce the concept of green aggregation, where communities agree to purchase renewable energy certificates beyond the state’s requirement. He also will discuss opportunities and challenges relating to grid modernization and the development of a green grid for maximizing deployment of solar and other distributed resources. In addition, CLC’s Briana Kane will highlight energy-saving and emission-reducing efficiency programs for local residents.
BCN brings together “Brewster residents dedicated to sharing our resources, information, and contacts so that, in collaboration with town officials and the greater community, we are better able to maintain the character of our town and quality of our lives.”
