Brewster Agriculture: Past, Present and Future
A BCN forum to discuss the evolution of farming.
Thursday, April 27, 2017, 6:00 to 8:00 pm
At the Brewster Ladies’Library
On Thursday April 27, Brewster Community Network (BCN) will host “Brewster Agriculture: Past, Present & Future” at the Ladies’ Library from 6 to 8 pm. Experts will discuss the evolution of farming in Brewster and on Cape Cod, as well as ongoing developments in community-supported agriculture. Local farmers are encouraged to attend and promote their work.
The speaker lineup includes Peter Hermann, chair of the Brewster Agricultural Commission and director for the Cape & Islands Farm Bureau; Leo Cakounes, local farmer, former Farm Bureau president, and Barnstable County Commissioner; and Mike McGuire, director of the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, which is charged with strengthening Barnstable County’s agriculture and food systems, as part of a larger mission. Audience Q&A will allow attendees to ask experts for their thoughts and opinions.
BCN is a non-partisan forum that brings together “Brewster residents dedicated to sharing our resources, information, and contacts so that, in collaboration with town officials and the greater community, we are better able to maintain the character of our town and quality of our lives.” For more information, visit www.brewstercommunitynetwork.org.
